Our Instructors

Our dojo is very fortunate to have experienced and collaborative instructors. We have known each other for many years and all grew up in this Martial Arts system. We live in the neighborhood and even our spouses & children are involved.

Sensei Paul Billimoria

Paul Billimoria is a certified Menkyo Sensei (Classical Instructor) with a 5th degree black belt in Aoinagi-ha Shito Ryu Karate. He has been training in martial arts since 1978 and has been an instructor since 1981. Paul has won three National Championships in team kata (forms) competition and has been passing on the art for the past 25+ years.

Sensei Andy Prouty

Andrew Prouty is a certified Menkyo Sensei (Classical Instructor) with a 4th degree black belt in Aoinagi-ha Shito Ryu Karate. He has been training in martial arts since 1989, has been instructing for 15+ years and is also a repeat National Champion in team kata (forms) competition.

Sensei Rex Hill

Rex Hill has trained in traditional Okinawan Karate for over 20 years, and has been an instructor for more than 10 years at UCSD and the YMCA. He focuses on development of students through concentrated practice, and blends his teaching between empty-hand techniques and traditional stick weapon training. When not practicing the martial arts, he is a senior director of engineering at one of the local tech giants.

Sensei Kathy Rader

Kathy Rader has trained in traditional Okinawan Karate for over 20 years, and has been an instructor for more than 5 years at the YMCA. She focuses on technical excellence in martial arts and the process of teaching, and enjoys cross-training with weapons and general fitness. She holds a PhD in biology from UCSD and is focused on teaching and curriculum development at a local Montessori school.

Sensei Sarah Sagi

Sarah Sagi has been training for at least 15 years. She is the lead instructor of the children's class, plus you may find her training and helping in the other classes also.
